Peak load即最大負(fù)荷，load多用來指工作量、裝載量或者負(fù)荷、重壓，如，reduce your workload（降低工作量）、overloaded trucks（超載貨車）、power load（用電負(fù)荷）等。容易見到的peak短語有，peak season（高峰期）、peak hour（高峰時段）等。
北京國網(wǎng)北京電力調(diào)控中心總工程師表示，北京持續(xù)3天高溫天氣，空調(diào)降溫需要（air conditioning demand）明顯增長，這是電網(wǎng)負(fù)荷增幅較大的重要原因。持續(xù)的極端天氣或許會引發(fā)電力短缺（power shortage），從而引發(fā)有關(guān)能源危機（energy crunch3）的擔(dān)心。現(xiàn)在國內(nèi)為知道決能源危機，正在大力推廣新能源，并計劃建設(shè)新能源示范城（new-energy model city）�，F(xiàn)在正在積極研究，有待進(jìn)一步推廣的新能源有：太陽能（
